The Long Goodbye

Momma you walk too fast
I can't keep up with you
I'm still a little child
The way is hard

This road's too long and now you've gone so far
That you can't see me waving goodbye
Momma I love you and I miss you though you are here
Beside me

Wish I could turn the time
Wish I could stay the tide
Wish you remembered me

This road's too long and now you've gone so far
That you can't see me waving goodbye
Momma I love you and I miss you though you are here
Beside me

Ruth, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get here. I've been busy, but that's no excuse.

This poem brought tears to my eyes. Dementia is the cruelest disease. Death by a thousand cuts. My grandmother suffered from it. I'm sorry that your mother is so terribly gone to you.

She will always be with you, though. That love you shared will never die.
